Restaurants & Bakeries

Portland Area Restaurants and Bakeries with Gluten Free Options:
  • Corbett and Hawthorne Fish Houses  Almost all items gluten free, some dairy free.  Where else can you go for happy hour and be able to eat almost anything off the menu?  Gluten free buns available for sandwiches too.  Four choices (at last check) for gluten free beer too.
  • Earth Oven Pizza (Hillsboro)  Gluten free crust and dairy free cheese available.
  • Cruise In Country Diner (Hillsboro)  Gluten free buns for grass fed beef and buffalo burgers and much more.  Currently no gluten free beer listed on the menu, but they do have Spire Hard Dark Cider.
  • Divine Pie Gluten and dairy free, mostly raw pies.  Also- delicious! See my review.
  • Fresh Grill (Beaverton)  Gluten free buns available for a very reasonable charge.
  • Monteaux Public House (Beaverton)  Gluten free options clearly labeled on the menu.
  • New Cascadia Traditional Bakery  All gluten free Artisan bakery.  Cupcakes, bread, pizza and more.
  • Seasons and Regions  Gluten free menu.
  • Petunia's Pie & Pastries  Donuts @ the Portland Farmer's Market every week (PSU).  Need I say more?  Get there early!
  • Queen of Hearts Baking Co. Fantastic hand pies.  Your friends won't know they are gluten free.  See my review on makemesomepie.com.
  • Bob's Red Mill Restaurant  If you don't know Bob's, you should!  The store is full of great gluten free products, including a bulk section with everything from arrowroot to xanthan gum.  I haven't actually tried it yet, but the restaurant advertises gluten free options for breakfast and lunch.
  • Oba! Gluten free and dairy free menus available and delicious!
  • Laurelhurst Market  Let them know your allergies or sensitivities, they are more than happy to accommodate.
  • Dick's Kitchen  Gluten free burgers and diner food.  Agave sweetened house made sodas.  Air baked "not fries" or "not sweet potato fries".  Finish it off with a dairy free Coconut Bliss milkshake or perhaps a gluten free, sugar free fruit cobbler.
  • Sellwood Pizza Kitchen  As mentioned in other blogs around the web, I can confirm that this is, without a doubt, the best GF pizza in Portland.  Also, they have GF garlic cheese bread, and even GF dessert options!  There do not, however, seem to be dairy free options here.
  • Extreme Pizza-  Currently my second place gluten free pizza overall.  Nice thin crust that is not soggy.  It tastes like pizza folks!  Bonus points for being in my neighborhood.  Extra bonus points for having half price gift certificates through Restaurant.com.
  • Crave Bake Shop-  I haven't been here yet, but if you don't know, Crave was featured on the Food Network show Cupcake Wars.  They just opened a store front in Lake Oswego.
  • Cravin Raven-  This Sellwood area bakery is not only gluten free, but also does not use refined sugar and has many dairy free options available.  The cupcakes are good, the muffins are great!
  • Hopworks Urban Brewery- Before I gave up gluten I enjoyed Hopworks, a lot.  Now I can again.  They have a gluten free bun (Jensen's) for sandwiches and burgers and gluten free pizza crust.  Also gluten free beer is available in a bottle, not on tap.
  • Deschutes Brewery- A gluten free/friendly menu that includes a HOUSE-made gluten free bun for burgers and sandwiches can only be topped by the fact that they brew their own gluten free beer and have it available on tap!
  • McMenamins-  All McMenamins now have gluten free buns (Jensen's) available for burgers and sandwiches.  I'm not too sure about other gluten free options, so be sure to ask.  I did have some issues and concerns here.  They brought the wrong soup once that was thickened with flour, and they also brought saltines.  Not a huge deal, but it does make me wonder how well trained the staff is at understanding gluten free and preventing cross contamination.
  • Mississippi Pizza-  I haven't been in to the restaurant yet, but I did sample the gluten free pizza at the Gluten Free Fair and it is very good (some say the best in town).  The regular GF crust is not vegan, but a vegan GF option is also available.  They also sell crusts you can take home to create your own pizza.
  • Laurelwood Public House-  No information is currently available on the website, but rumor has it Laurelwood has gluten free buns available for burgers and sandwiches.  It is unknown at this time what other gluten free menu options are available.  No gluten free beers listed on the website at this time either.
